I am a total sucker for photo realism and when I spotted the work of Australian artist; Jonathan Crowther, my “art alarm bells” started to ring!
Opening today at the Lethbridge Gallery in Brisbane, “Anything but Ordinary” is Jonathan’s latest body of work, and exploration of everday objects (some of the most mundane that you would have never stopped to admire!) pulled into sharp focus in his large scale hyper realistic paintings.
“I like to bring attention to objects and material that everyone is familiar with and has some sort of relationship or connection with”, Crowther says about his art work. “By focusing on the object and painting it at a grandiose scale, the everyday is deified or revered in some way”
