Design FilesDesign Files

More than anything this is a public service announcement for those of you planning on some weekend “home inspiration pinning”. Lucy Feagins is the clever brains behind massive Australian blog – The Design Files and she has some SUPER juicy boards on her Pinterest account for those of you wanting to draw inspiration from homes actually on our side of the world. Eg. not Sweden, Norway or anywhere else pale and snowy. Enjoy.

hellopoppethello poppethello poppetGot a bit of the blues today….for no good reason at all! Figuring if my hair was actually stylishly blue I would feel better. Can anyone out there suggest some music for me to listen too? I think my brain is going loopy due to lack of listening variation!

Another great one from Hello Poppet.

Our Kitchen

Our Kitchen Fisher & Paykel

I consider myself a foodie in the sense that I really enjoy delicious food (and drink…). However, I can’t claim to be one of those adventurous souls in the kitchen and I definitely couldn’t get creative without a recipe. So Our Kitchen is a place online that offers awesome regular food construction ideas from kiwis who are totally passionate about it. Started by a team of like-minded workmates at Fisher & Paykel who used to swap recipes on bits of paper, they now take turns updating the site with amazing ideas and stunning styled images.

line shape colour This is just a tiny sneak peek of a little cabin renovation by talented Aussie designer/blogger Gemma and her kiwi husband on a recent trip to NZ to visit family. They took to that baby bach with white paint and an amazing natural but clean aesthetic. Definitely click through and see the “before’s” and more “afters”. Inspiring!

Rachel McMahon, Auckland

Made from ScratchAnother really exciting advantage of moving to Auckland has been the opportunity to actually meet other kiwi bloggers in the flesh. And one of these clever people who I got to hang out with for the second time yesterday, is Rachael McMahon of lifestyle blog Made from Scratch. I can remember well when her little corner of the universe popped up. It was and always has been incredibly well put together, professional and packed with content. As Rachael herself explained, Made from Scratch is a lifestyle blog which follows her own interests from year to year meaning it will offer content that interests like minded people. Following her own beautiful wedding she has maintained a real interest in the local scene and collaborated on some amazing editorial shoots and inspirational posts. She is also a crazy good baking fiend which has led her to further collaboration AND running her own baking classes for a time.
Her ideas are big, her content is rich and I really hope that by getting a peek into her gorgeous little recently renovated home, you might have just found yourself a new regular online haven.
Thanks so much for having me Rachael!

Love & Ginger

Love and Ginger

I am VERY excited to be the first to introduce you to the wonderful and delicious world of Love and Ginger. My friend Katrina Nurse is many things ( a miracle working hairdresser, hilarious, goofy girlfriend and spunky wife) but she is also an annoyingly resourceful designer and maker. I say annoyingly as everything she touches seems to end up the ideal amount of perfectly imperfect. Over at Love and Ginger the blog, you can follow the exciting process of building a new house in rural Canterbury as well as be witness to the many DIY projects she takes too (often with nail gun and saw in hand!) Recently, following demand via her Instagram account she has been custom making the garlands pictured. And the great news is she is now taking orders as well as listing stock in her newly formed shop!
