Paige Jarman is a young, Wellington based maker/designer/illustrator who has been flexing her creative muscles across all mediums! With a growing portfolio of textile and illustrative work that you can check out here – just over a year ago she also began working with clay. Since then Paige has experimented and worked hard at learning her craft and dialing into the fresh but rustic aesthetic you see here.

I thought the foodies out there might enjoy this collaboration!
Renowned kiwi potter; Peter Collis has worked with award winning chef; Ben Bayly (Baduzzi, The Grove) to design this collection of tableware. I’m deeply in love with the subtle cool palette and the soft, handmade form of the plates which gives them just the right amount of “rustic”.
Diners at both of Ben’s restaurants will already be eating off the stoneware and the rest of us can serve up our humble (or extravagant!) home cooking with the collection coming to Stevens stores nationwide and online later this month.

Raglan based Tony Sly works with a small team in a workshop on a wharf by the sea. Trust me – it is as glorious as it sounds!!
A former fine arts potter, Tony returned to the his wheel and kiln after being frustrated at the lack of beautiful and functional pottery for cooks. As a keen culinary explorer he found himself pouring over European cook books with all the food housed in strong, rustic ceramics….which he simply couldn’t find in NZ.
This led Tony to experiment and develop what is now a huge offering of pieces in a rich range of tones to suit all cooks, the kitchens and dining tables – all handmade using NZ sourced clay.
Take some time to explore their vast collection online which is complimented with beautifully curated offering of quality accessories. And if you ever find yourself in Raglan be SURE to visit!!

Amber Armitage is no stranger to the down under creative scene.
As Senior Designer and Stylist at Homestyle magazine she holds a birds eye view of our healthy industry and perhaps this is what gave her itchy feet to be flexing her OWN business muscles!
Following up the launch of her series of fine art photographic prints, Amber has just released a beautiful collaboration with Studio Ceramics.
“The Family” is made up of five members, all of which have been handmade out of the purest of clay – all right here in New Zealand. Like her actual family members they are named after, each item is handmade resulting in the lovely, unique variations this results in.
Take your time to explore Amber’s world and stay posted for more to come from this new creative force!

Designer Liora Saad of Toodles Noodles has long been known for her graphic, up lifting wall flags. Looking to mix things up a little, she sort out the team at Tauranga based Jenz Studio and the “With Love From Us” collection was born.
The ceramic art tiles are made to display in both interior and exterior spaces. All the designs are handmade from scratch and no two items are quite the same.

The playful ceramic work/people of Vanessa Bean made me leap to attention while scouting around on instagram a week or so ago. Creator; Vanessa Holle is actually a graphic designer by trade and a relative newcomer to the world of ceramics (hard to believe!)
I have a particular soft spot for the quirky cool totems!
There is a huge selection of her work available on Etsy here.Imagery courtesy of Vanessa Bean
