Wild Wagon Co. is the rather romantic name picked to represent the rich, modern folk art of designer and roving creative; Cristina Viscu.
A quick scan of her About page gives a nod to her adventuring spirit which has led her from Moldova to Nashville, New York to Auckland. While she has worked across a handful of creative industries it wasn’t until Cristina arrived in Auckland with her husband Eugene a few years ago that the Wild Wagon Co ranges of stationary and prints took form.
I’ve been an admirer of her bold but organic style for some time – in particular her art prints of quirky portraits, hands and tattoos.

I’ve had one eye on the fresh, graphic style of NZ based Sly + Company for sometime but it was while browsing the latest newsletter from The Market NZ that I spotted some new work and was reminded that I was well overdue to share!
Robert and Louise Sly join their obviously immense creative forces to make art, graphics and illustrated textiles – all with a distinctive modern flavour that is unique to them. I LOVE their largescale prints (particularly this one) and their growing collection of cushions.
Lets not forget those block people below !

Saskia Rysenbry is one prolific and crazy talented designing machine! While this kiwi is currently based in London she has been seriously fulfilling her role as creative director of Australian textile company Sparkk.
Her latest collection; “Memphis Textures” is inspired by iconic 80’s Italian design collective – the Memphis Group which emerged from art deco, pop art and postmodernism.
The cushion collection is covetable but don’t forget all of these designs and more are available to be ordered by the metre!
Sparkk is a family business that is founded on some highly regarded experience in the textile industry on both sides of the Tasman. Their commitment to working with emerging designers is super exciting – you can browse their new cushion store here or fabric library here.
