Woolshed Wandering

Tonight I am heading out to a local Wanaka woolshed to check out two awesome acts. How do I know they are awesome? Well I went to the show last week in a different woolshed! The Bitches Box is a hilarious two person show performed and written by Amelia Guild and Emily Newborn, especially funny for those who have grown up around farm dogs. These hot “bitches” are touring with the equally divine Mel Parsons. I had heard some of Mels music in the past but wasn’t prepared for the raw and emotional beauty of her music and her words. She is also one mean guitar player! Below is her most recent video.

Rippon

On Saturday was Rippon festival-an iconic event in the South Island celebrating NZ’s favourite and emerging music acts as well as it’s location, my special place, Wanaka. It is my third Rippon (held every second year) and once again one of the best days out of the year. In fact I had such a ripper last time that it set off a chain of thought and action that led me to move my life to Wanaka! ¬†The pics above are by the super talented Pat Shepherd who was on board as one of the official image makers! Looks like a pretty horrible time right?…..
Pat also is one of the brains behind the amazing Little Lotus Project which you can check out here.

House on Fire

Wow! Kate McPherson hovers round the top of my fave NZ wedding photographers…but she just added music photog to her bag of talents!! I am besotted with her shoot of up and coming, deliciously folky Wellington band: Claude Rains. Since discovering Kate’s link to them last week I am totally obsessed with this song!!
