What a satisfying thing it is to watch, over years, the well deserved rise of an artist!
I’ve had an eye cast in the direction of Adelaide and Joshua Miels since 2010 and each exhibition he unveils is (incredibly) more impressive then the last!

“Social Disconnect” opens at Hill Smith Gallery on 3 – 17 October 2015 – if you have the chance to view these largescale paintings in person I really would !

” ‘Social Disconnect’ as the title suggests, explores how social media and networking can desensitize emotions, making situations appear different from reality. Miels in these portraits focuses on the face and the hidden thoughts and feelings of the subject. While striving for sense of belonging through socializing online, the opposite can often be true, creating a false sense of communication. The decline of face to face communication then, is here highlighted through the augmented portraits of these individuals.”
