Wow, the poor world has seen so much disaster at the hands of mother nature already this year. The devastation in Japan was unthinkable. Movie like. Impossible to get my head round but for the fact that there has been destruction at whims of the earth so close to home in NZ. It has also been incredibly heartwarming to see the outpouring of support from all over the world. Its huge and for those people effected I am sure just knowing that people haven’t simply turned their heads the other way.
Today is an official day of mourning in New Zealand for our friends in Christchurch who have lost their lives, their family, been injured, lost their livelihoods, their homes and the simple feeling of waking up the in the morning and leading their normal lives. Life isn’t normal for most there and it will be a long time before it is. So today isn’t a day for links, its one to remember how lucky the rest of us are and how life is not made for mucking around and waiting for stuff to happen.
This weekend I am off with a treasured crew of friends to stay in a wee house on the rugged southern coast of New Zealand, The Catlins. I am thankful my Christchurch people are safe, my parents (who were in Japan last week ) are home safe and my darling Grandmother Busy is now free and at peace.
Make the most of it lovelies xoxox
