Storm Cottage

Fearon Hay Architecture - Storm Cottage

Champions of clean but clever buildings – NZ based architects Fearon Hay joined forces with interior architect; Penny Hay to bring to life this amazing example of kiwi coastal design. Aptly named Storm Cottage, the bolthole is on the exposed side of Great Barrier Island and is completely off the grid meaning it runs on solar power and has independent water and sewage systems. Sliding screens can fully enclose the building when need be adding to the stealth factor of the black exterior and simple box form. It’s the oiled oak interior that reallllllly gets me!
