I had intended on heading out to the opening night of the Unitec Gradfest and the Design and Visual Arts exhibitions last week after the lovely Corinne Tan invited me. “Cleverly” I completely double booked myself so instead snuck along for an intended half hour browse on Friday. Half an hour turned into 1.5 hours. There was SO much to explore across photography, fine arts, jewellery design, product design, graphic design, landscape and architecture. I was actually stumped at so much of what I saw and came away feeling incredibly inspired that there are SO many talented kiwis about to graduate and bring their art and skills out of the classroom and hopefully into your home and daily life. The exhibition ends on the 6th of December. I highly recommend going to check it out if you are in Auckland. Otherwise I hope these pics offer a little inspiration for those of you everywhere else. Maybe there are some local graduate exhibitions happening in your town now?Kenneth Merrick, BDVA-Visual Arts. “Aleion Flight” mixed media. Sara Matthews, BDVA – Visual Arts, “Mom” oil on board.
